Maoyon River Cruise

The Maoyon River Cruise and Rafting is one of the new attractions in the City of Puerto Princesa. It is a 45-minute river cruise which includes a scrumptious Lunch and a stopover at a century old giant tree.
This new tourist attraction is a Community-Based Sustainable Tourism (CBST) Project, which aims to give livelihood opportunities to the residents of baranggay Maoyon.

Baranggay Maoyon is more or less an hour away from the city proper of Puerto Princesa. If you have a trip going to the northern part of Palawan, why not consider a side trip to the Maoyon River Cruise? :)

The Maoyon River Cruise is actually based from the Loboc River Cruise in Bohol.

This 45-minute river cruise costs 5,000php which is good for 10 persons.

The crew consists of two ladies, four men (who drives the boat), and an entertainer who sings for the guests. They are all residents of Baranggay Maoyon.
The entertainer plays the guitar and sings local tagalog and cuyunin songs for the guests to enjoy during the cruise.

The lunch includes rice, crabs, shrimps, grilled bangus, pansit bihon, steamed oysters, tinolang manok, and a variety of veggies and slices of mangoes with a complimentary alamang na bagoong. They also served biko/suman and fruits like pineapple and watermelon for dessert. For the drinks they prepared homemade tablea and buko juice which is freshly opened during the cruise. What a feast!
This is the usual meal that they prepare for their guests, but the menu is actually flexible. You can request them to prepare the kind of lunch that you want. But you should tell it to them ahead of time for preparation purposes.

The Cruise had a stopover at a place where the tallest and largest Dao tree in Maoyon is located! As soon as the boat dock at the shore, you will be asked to go down and you will walk for five minutes to be able to get to the Daho tree.

After walking for five minutes you will be amazed with the sight of this humungous tree! It is the largest and tallest Dao tree in Maoyon. It's also said to be centuries old already. It also makes the place very enchanting.

  1. Hi. I stumbled upon your photo.
The tree and the land it sits upon is owned by my uncle's friend and colleague. She is a dentist there in Palawan.

    1. Hi! Sorry, I am not sure if they're still operating the river cruise tour. But don't worry, I'll ask around and inquire at the City Tourism office about the tours and bookings, then I'll get back to you.
