PHO'r a change :)

I have always loved Pho! And my love for this awesome Vietnamese noodle soup, more popularly known as Pho or Chaolong, had me searching for the best beef stew noodle soup here in our beautiful province of Palawan.

Nitchie's Vietnamese Noodle Soup House

At the top of my list of  the best chaolong houses in Puerto Princesa (which has the most delicious vietnamese Beef stew noodle soup) is Bona's Chaolong. However, last December 10, 2013, when we tried Nitchie's Vietnamese Noodle House, i've had a change of heart.

Ranking down Bona's from top 1 to top 2 of my best beef stew list in Puerto Princesa, Nitchie's have always been a top contender as the Palawenyo's most favorite Chaolong house in the province. They continuously attract more and more Palawenyos and tourists to try their mouthwatering Vietnamese dishes. Nitchie's had recently been my top 1 Vietnamese Noodle soup house in Palawan!

I have been hearing and reading stories about Nitchie's from years back, but i didn't give enough interest into trying it out. But one afternoon this December 2013, I finally decided to try it out.
Along with two of my cousins, we went on our way to try the food at Nitchie's.

My cousins and co-foodtrippers!

My expectations were high because from what i've read and heard, it's been said that they have the best beef stew in Palawan! Nitchie's didn't disppoint me the moment i tasted their food. It's delish!!!

We tried the following dishes:

For appetizer, we had Goi Cuon. It's a fresh lumpia Pork with special sauces.
This dish is a must try!

(Four (4) pcs. Goi Cuon--Fresh Lumpia Pork, P75 Nitchie's)

Wrapped in Vietnamese rice paper called Banh Trang are lettuce, toge, basil leaves, rice noodles and pork. It's served with two special sauces.

One of which is a  sweet black bean paste and the other one is a lumpia vinaigrette dip with garlic. Both dips tasted good with the fresh lumpia that i actually had a hard time choosing which one is better. I guess you just have to try it for yourself and you decide on which of the dips tastes better. For my companions however, they liked the vinaigrette with garlic much better than the black bean paste.

Time to taste this authentic Vietnamese spring rolls! Here we go..

First bite of Vietnamese fresh lumpia! soooo gooood!

You must really try this dish!
According to ate Nitchie, you must use your hands in eating this dish for a more authentic experience. "Don't use your spoon in eating this, use your hands instead", said ate Nitchie.

I'm really here to try their beef stew noodle soup. So we, of course, tried it.
And this is the moment of truth, PHO IS SERVED!

Pho Bo Kho or Beef Stew Noodle Soup, P75

After tasting this dish, all i can say is "Goodbye Bona's, and Hello Nitchie's".
Why is their noodle soup much better as compared to Bona's and other Vietnamese Noodle Soup Houses in Palawan is that, their broth (oh, their broth!!) is super tasty, delicious and mouthwatering!
It's also not that oily as compared to the soup in Bona's.
Their rice noodles is also much plumper and firmer as compared to others. They are also very generous in the beef that they put in their soup (not only in the broth, but also in the meat content as well).

People who eat Chaolong usually puts Basil leaves, toge and Calamansi in the Pho.

We also tried their Chicken and Pork Noodle Soup.

Noodle soups or Pho's are complimentary with French Breads. There's a wide variety of french breads, but if you are to ask which one goes very well with Pho, I would say that it'll be the Garlic French Bread. As compared to Pham's and Bona's Chaolongs' garlic french breads, still Nitchie's has the best.

Nitchie's Garlic Bread. P30

For those of you who's not familiar with french breads, french breads are like small baguettes which has a variety of fillings to choose from. Different chaolong houses offer pork, chicken, cheese and garlic french breads.

Pork BBQ French Breads are also a hit! This one from Nitchie's is okay, didn't exceed my expectations though.

This is the AFTERMATH! SOLBUSOG! :)

The Aftermath! haha

Their menu at Nitchie's has a variety of dishes to choose from. Laid back and relaxing is the ambiance of the restaurant. They have nice furniture and eating here is a nice experience as compared to eating at Pham's Chaolong where there are bystanders such as Badjao kids who are disturbing your supposedly nice dining experience.

Their service is really good and fast. The owner herself takes orders and delivers the food to every tables.

As for the parking, they don't have a big parking space (but, parking is not really a problem).

The noodle house was named after the owner, Ate Nitchie. She's very kind and accommodating.

If you also want to eat here, below are the details about Nitchie's.

Nitchie's vietnamese noodle house is located at Unit B Manalo St. Baranggay Princesa, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. They're open from Monday to Saturday at 10am-2pm then 5pm-9pm, however, they're closed during sundays. You may contact them at 09178007356.

It's best to go here at around 3 or 5 pm, there's not much diners during those hours.

This noodle soup house is located near our house (walking distance), that's why i keep on wondering why i wasted so much time and money going to other Chaolong Houses when Nitchie's is just a block away from our house.

You really should explore more places to discover the best! Keep on exploring explorers!!

Come and try their authentic Vietnamese dishes! And when you do, make sure you tell me about your Nitchie's foodie experience!

Adios!
