THE ISLAND

image
(Approaching Pandan Island)

The Island was called Isla Pandan or Pandan Island, simply because of the fact that the island is home to a lot Pandan trees,

There is an entrance fee in this island that you should pay. It costs 150 pesos per person. You will be asked to pay the fee in the port before proceeding to your island hopping tour. Just keep the receipt and give it to the in-charge personnel of the island upon your arrival.
During my last visit in the island, which is just last December 2012, the entrance fee costs only 50 pesos per person. i wondered why the fee sky rocketed that high.

(There's a lot of Pandan Trees in the Island)

Upon our arrival in the Island we were led to this station where we were asked to log in and choose what type of cottages we would like to rent.

This is their rates for the different types of amenities that they have. As you can see in the picture below, tents with tables and chairs costs 400 pesos, Cottages costs 600 pesos, and beach umbrellas with table and chairs costs 400 pesos. Other fees are for the different activities that you may do in the island, such as rentals for water paddle boat, stand up paddle, kayaking, volleyball, frisbee and rental for sand castle making tools.

The island is the most populated island in Honda bay. It's like a mini Boracay. And It is a frequented Lunch stopover of island hoppers and beach goers.

There are plenty of small starfishes on a particular area in the island. Only a few starfishes are this big (refer to the two succeeding photos below).

  1. Hello! Great post! Looks like we were at Honda Bay around the same time last year. Do you think it is easy to coordinate your own island hopping versus using a tour group? Even if you don't know Tagalog very well? Thank you!

    1. Hello! Sorry for the late response. I think not knowing tagalog that well will not be a huge problem. All you need to do is familiarize yourself with the place you're about to go to and research ahead of time. Of course going on a packaged tour would not give you that much of a hassle as compared with doing a DIY island hopping tour. But a DIY tour would be a lot less costly as compared with the packaged tours.

    1. I am so sorry for the super late response. I've been busy for the past 6 months as i was in review school for my upcoming board examination. I have just read your comment now and again, i'm so sorry for the late reply.

As far as I know, there are no cottages for rent in the honda bay islands where you can spend the night except for Dos Palmas, an island resort in Honda bay. And I have never heard of any person spending the night in the islands (except of course for those who own private areas in the island/s). You might want to check out Dos Palmas Island Resort, they're the only resort in Honda Bay which accommodates people who wanted to stay in for the night or for as long as they want to. :)
