BINONDO FOODTRIP (Part 2)

And again, we're back in Binondo for another FOODIE ADVENTURE!!

(Ongpin St. Binondo Manila Philippines)

Our first food adventure in Binondo was last year, 2013.
(Ongpin St. Binondo Manila Philippines)

Welcome again to the popular and historical street of Ongpin! :)

(Eng Bee Tin, Ong Pin St. Binondo Manila Philippines)

Along the street of Ongpin is one of the oldest hopia factory and bakery of Binondo. Eng Bee Tin is one of the pioneers in the food establishments of the world's oldest Chinatown.

The owner of Eng Bee Tin also has a new venture called Cafe' Mezzanine. It is more popularly known as the Fireman's coffee shop located at the heart of Chinatown. All the proceeds of the said cafe' is donated to the Binondo Paco Fire Search and Rescue Brigade.

However, me and my friend didn't get the chance to visit the coffee shop for we didn't have the leisure of time.

This establishment (Eng Bee Tin)  is famous for their hopia and tikoy products as well as other Chinese delicacies. They were also the one who made the largest moon cakes in the Philippines, measuring 75 inches in circumference, 3 inches in height and it weighs 40 kg.

The huge mooncake sells for P38,888.88 and the proceeds will be donated to a firefighting organization supported by Eng Bee Tin.

I tried their Hopia Combo of Ube and Langka and their Strawberry Mochi Creme.

Though eng bee tin's hopia is good, it can't still beat my hometown's ube hopia from the baker's hill.

Mochi Creme is one of the new products of Eng Bee Tin. I am actually a fan of Mochis, that's why i was really happy to find a mochi creme at Eng Bee Tin's.

They have different flavors of Mochi. I tried their strawberry flavored Mochi. Other establishments which sells mochis uses ice creams as filling, but Eng Bee Tin has a different take on it they use creams as fillings. Mochi Cremes are made from japanese rice cakes with a cream filling.

Eng Bee Tin's version of mochis is also good. It's strawberry flavor goes very well with it's cream filling.
Our next stop, Tasty Dumplings at Masangkay street.

(Tasty Dumplings at Masangkay St. Binondo Manila, Philippines)
Tasty Dumplings is also one of the oldest Chinese restos in Chinatown.

There are a lot of people who eats here which only means that they indeed serve good food.

They have another branch in Chinatown along Norberto Ty (Condesa) St. and another one in Retiro St. in Quezon City.

Tasty Dumplings is famous for their rice dishes. Their best seller is their Porkchop rice. I think what really sets them apart from other establishments offering the same dish is that their porkchop is really well seasoned and it's cooked perfectly. It's crunchy and tastes really really good. It's a must try!

My friend ordered Hongma with Rice (a dish similar to patatim), it is a Chinese soy sauce braised pork. Though the meat is super tender and it's also tasty, i think i just didn't like the overall taste, the dish was just okay.

My food trip buddy for the day, Ate Janet. :) Though we only had tried a few dishes, our trip to Binondo was still worth it.
