Casa De Dulces

It was last March 26, 2014 when my family and i passed by this restaurant along Abanico Road near Tiniguiban.

(The facade of the restaurant)

Its bright yellow, red and blue colors caught my attention when we passed by the area. My curiosity about this restaurant grew more when i saw the artistic signages posted outside the restaurant which says Fajitas, Quesadillas, Nachos Etc. Another nice place for Mexican Food in Puerto, yey!!

(A restaurant serving good mexican food)
However during that time we weren't able to stop by the restaurant for we came from an out of town trip and everybody's already exhausted.

It was just because of my friend, April (who happens to ask me to accompany her to this place), that i was able to try this nice resto.

We went here last April 2, to celebrate April's birthday (which is on April 1).

(Inside the resto)

April and i met at Robinson's Place Palawan. And from there we hailed a tricycle to Abanico road (where the restaurant is located at). The fare from Robinson's to Casa de Dulces is P15 per person. Another alternative way of getting here is by riding a South-bound multicab at Junction 2 (or wherever along the National Highway in the town proper). You can get off the cab when you reach the intersection of Abanico and Tiniguiban Road (your landmark is the Jesus Is Lord Church). Then you can just walk from the intersection to the restaurant. From the intersection, it's just a few meters straight-forward walk and you'll see the brightly colored restaurant. It's very easy to locate.

Note: If you're going to walk please, please, please, beware of dogs. To reach the resto you will have to pass by this certain house with a maroon/red gate, they have a lot of dogs and the dogs are really scary, they attack people so please be careful and watchful if you're going to walk along that area.

Going back to Casa de Dulces, April and I reached the place at around 4.30 in the afternoon. We were the only customer during that time. The owner and her friend were chilling outside the restaurant when we arrived. Mrs. Tan (the owner, who's also the chef) is very accommodating and nice.

(Chill ambiance plus comfortable furniture)

We walked in the restaurant and it's really nice. The restaurant is fully air-conditioned, but if you want to enjoy the freshness of the air you can sit outside at the garden area because outdoor sitting is also available.

(Nice interiors)

This is how the restaurant looks like from the inside.

And this is how it looks like from the outside.

You can still enjoy the freshness of the air outside this resto because there are still a lot of trees that surround the area, and there are not many vehicles passing by.

(Homey ambiance, feels just like at your own home's backyard)

Me and my friend April had a little chit-chat with the owner, Mrs. Tan who also happens to be a chef. She is a graduate from a culinary school in California,USA (if i'm not mistaken).

Casa de Dulces opened last October 18, 2013, and i think it's her venue in practicing her learnings from her culinary education.

In my own research, i found out that Casa De Dulces means House of Sweets. Casa in Portuguese means house/home while the word Dulces means Sweets. So when you put them together you'll have House of Sweets.

It's no wonder why this resto was named house of sweets because honestly it is home to a variety of delicious sweet treats!

FOOD! FOOD! FOOD!
What we tried:

Cheese Quesadilla with salsa, P70. They also have Chicken Quesadilla which costs P90. Their Quesadilla is good (according to April).

(Cheese Quesadilla, P70)

They also have soft shell and hard shell Tacos. What April and I tried is their hard shell tacos, P110 (2 pcs.). The soft shell Tacos costs P90 (1 pc. only).

Their tacos has lettuce, ground meat, tomatoes, cheese and sour cream.

I also ordered a Beef Fajita. It tastes sooo good! It would've been perfect should the beef be tender enough.

(Tastes so good!)

 SWEETS!

For desserts, they have cream puffs, lemon bars and chocolate cheesecakes.

(Time for some sweets!)

What i like most about their desserts is that they are delicious yet super affordable!

Imagine, these lemon bars only cost P20!

Sweet and sour it is. I like the combination of the two flavors in this dessert.

(Casa de Dulces' Lemon Bars)

I love the lemon paste filling as well as the tart shell. For me, this pastry is perfectly baked. I loved it!

(Sweet and sour, good pastry!)

The cream puff is just okay. I just didn't like the texture of the pastry though.

Each cream puff costs P25.

(Casa de Dulces' Cream Puffs)
Their chocolate cheesecake bars on the other hand costs P28. It's super moist and rich in chocolate. It's super sulit and delicious. It's a must try!

Aside from these delicious sweets they also have butterscotch bars which we haven't tried.

(Counter top)

Together with the sweets, you can have a nice coffee or tea after your delicious meal. They have a variety of tea flavors to choose from. They have green tea, raspberry, passion fruit, jasmine etc.

(A variety of tea flavors)

And if you're a coffee lover you will love it here. Why? Because their coffee is refillable.

I'm not that sure but i heard, their menu varies from time time. It depends on what the chef wants to prepare, so don't wonder if some of the food above is not in the menu on your visit.
