Puerto Princesa CITY TOUR (BAKER'S HILL)

Let the Palawenya Explorer take you on a tour to her very own Hometown, the city of Puerto Princesa.

Let's first start with a bakery/theme park on the top of a hill.

Baker's Hill first started as a simple bakery. It has a mini park back then, but now you'll see that it already have a wide theme park with new establishments such as, the baker's kitchen, pizza house, hula shake, snack bar, souvenir shop, view deck, etc.

A snack bar caters to the visitors of the park. They have a variety of snacks to choose from such as pastas, desserts, drinks, soups, and sandwiches. My favorite gulaman drink is being sold in here. I recommend that if you happen to visit Baker's Hill make sure you try their gulaman drink, it's super delicious and it will surely quench your thirst.

BAKER'S KITCHEN---- The Restaurant

The popular exotic food, Tamilok is available in the baker's kitchen too! They've really expanded their restaurant, it's super big na today. Before its just really simple and small.

This is the newly renovated bakeshop of baker's hill where you can buy their popular baked goodies such as hopias, crinkles, mini cakes, and a lot more.

These baked goodies and the location of course is what made Baker's Hill really really famous.
You should try their different hopias, cause it's really good. My personal favorite is the Hopiang Ube in pork oil. :) Today they already have two different types of hopia, one is made in pork oil and the other one, in vegetable oil.

There are already a wide variety of baked goods that's being sold in their bakeshop, but for me, their top of the list goodies that you should try (cause they're really delicious and you'll surely come back for more) are their choco munchies--mini choco cakes, hopia ube, pianono, cheese bulilit and don't forget to try their yema (langka flavor---it's to die for!!).

Okay, enough of that foodie part, let's now move on.

At the back of the bakeshop is a souvenir shop. Souvenir items such as printed shirts, key chains, accessories, etc. are being sold in here.

If you don't have enough time to shop around the city proper you can buy your pasalubong items in here.

Scattered all around the park are these pretty and colorful floral arrangements. They're petals of different types of flowers arranged beautifully which are made to float on water. They're really very nice to look at.

Being a themed park, Baker's Hill has a lot of character figurines which are also scattered around the park. Some of them are the following:

They have Snow White along with her friends, the seven dwarfs,

The park has a new attraction, THE HOUSE OF SHREK! I wasn't able to bring my trusted camera so i won't be able to share with you guys photos of the said structure. I promise to share with you guys the photos of the house of Shrek if i happen to visit Baker's Hill again.

The house of Shrek is a life-size Tree House, with furniture in it, they have tables and chairs and a lot more. Outside the house stands an 8-foot tall figurine of Shrek. He's accompanied by his wife, princess fiona with their two kids together with pus, and of course, the silly Donkey. At the far back of Shrek's house is their Ogre's Toilet.

Baker's Hill also houses some unique and beautiful animals such as talking mynas and peacocks. When baker's hill is on its early start, they only have two (2) ostriches in their park. They were named Marge and Homer. Marge and Homer were later transferred to another place.

PEACOCKS

We were so lucky that during our visit the peacocks had their tails widely open for us to see. They're really one of my favorite birds! They are so beautiful and i love their colors.

A LITTLE TRIVIA ABOUT PEACOCKS:

Did you know that the term peacock refers only to the male peafowls? Peafowl is actually the correct term to use when you are referring to this specie of bird. The male peafowls are called peacocks, while the female peafowls are called peahens, their offsprings are called peachicks.

Another trivia regarding peacocks is that they show off their flamboyant eye-spotted covert feathers as part of their courtship.

THE VIEW DECK

There's also a view deck in the park where you can get a good view of the city and its coastline. In there you'll see some of the islands of Honda Bay.

One thing that's really admirable with The Baker's Hill is that they don't ask for entrance fees. You can enjoy the park for free! You can use their amenities without charges. But let us not forget to do our part in maintaining the cleanliness of the park, after eating our food make sure that we dispose the garbage properly. There are a lot of garbage can's scattered around the park, so there's no reason for you not to dispose your trash properly.

So that's it guys, i hope you enjoyed our mini tour here at the Baker's Hill.

ADIOS!
